sorry I’ve been sort of slow lately on my blog! I’ve been pretty busy and just haven’t had the chance to get on here. I do have lots of stuff to share with you, and a new video. As soon as I can I will upload it for ya!
This weekend I attended a Photography Class that Nikon was offering. It was GREAT. I learned a lot about my new camera and it really gave me the inspiration I needed to get out there and start using it. We headed from that class straight to the Cape so that I could get some photos in. My sister-in-law has a house in Mashpee, MA (right next to Falmouth). She lives about 4 houses in from the water and so we walked down to the beach and I got to get some great photos.

Click here to go to my Flickr Photostream and check out the other photos I took this weekend. I am really excited about my camera. I LOVE Photography and can’t wait to do more with it!
I also did LOTS of creative stuff in my craftroom this weekend so lookout for some blog posts this week…thanks!

I’ve been playing with my new toy!
this weekend I used my new camera to take some shots of my crafts. I also have been stalking the cat and other random people/objects in my house. I think once the warmer weather rolls around I will have more entertaining things to photograph. (right now everything outside is either brown or covered in snow. blegh)
Here is a card I made last week using some yummy October Afternoon DP & Rub-On’s:

And here is a closeup shot of my cat Max. I am 100% biased but I just think he is the most handsome-est cat ever!
He is pretty mischievous and generally not behaved at all…but VERY spoiled and gets whatever he wants. Hmm…what can I say, I’m a softie.
I really like the detail in this photo. This was with a flash and the camera set to Auto! Wowzers. I can’t believe the difference in this camera vs. my Canon P&S.
Card Supplies: October Afternoon DP, Rub-Ons. SU! Very Vanilla CS, Absolutely Fabulous Stamp Set, Choc. Chip Ink, Hemp Twine. Creative Memories Corner Rounder Punch.

well. this is what happens when it’s a a “blah Saturday” here in New England. You hang around the house with your hubby, and say “let’s go out and DO something…let’s go to the mall??”
An hour later I am at Ritz Camera store…as this is the store that I am obsessed with visiting every time we go to the mall. Pete is sitting in the chair while I drool over the glass cabinet holding all the SLR cameras. Next thing you know, I’m talking to the manager for a half an hour
Long story short, the next day I went back to the store and I’m now a VERY HAPPY owner of my first SLR camera. A Nikon D40:

*SQUEAL!!!!*
I was a total geek last night, running around our house taking photos of anything and everything. (Not knowing at all what I am doing). However I did manage to snap a decent photo of a recent card I made…in NON NATURAL light! Wooo!!
(PSA: this card is a CASE out of an issue of Paper Crafts Magazine. I am trying to link to the issue but I believe it was a past one and so I don’t know if that will work. Either way, I CASE’d this bad boy and didn’t design myself, just an FYI!)

SO much better than the ol’ point & shoot.
So….I’m happy. I hope to make you happy with better photos. And last but not least, Pete is happy that he does not have to sit on the uncomfortable stools at Ritz Camera every time we are at the mall.
Card Ingredients: SU! Cardstock: Kraft, Old Olive, Night of Navy. Chocolate Chip Ink, Old Olive Ribbon. Pocket Silhouettes Stamp Set, Misc. $1 Sentiment Stamp.

sooo…I’d love to be a better photograhper. I’ve been trying to improve the quality of photos I take of my crafts. My hope is that they are better for all you awesome people who come & visit my blog.
whenever we go somewhere, I get really into finding cool things to take pictures of. And anyone who knows me, knows that I go NO WHERE without my camera! It’s permanently in my purse. Never know what might happen that you need to capture
Here is a lovely flower that I captured this weekend:

I took some photos this weekend while we were hangin’ out in Portsmouth, NH - I decided to add a Photography section to my Project Gallery. check it out and let me know what you think! My next big purchase might be a real high quality digital camera - so if anyone has any feedback on their favorite brands - leave me a comment and let me know!
