some handmade felt flowers
For some reason I am drawn to felt lately. I just love how it has dimension & the colors are always so bright & vibrant. I decided to buy my own sheets of felt at Joann’s a few weeks ago & attempt to make my own flowers out of felt.
I cut these layers of felt out using scissors - I wasn’t too hung up on getting them perfect…I wanted them to look somewhat messy. I then used my sewing machine to do some messy stitching along the edge of each layer to give it added interest.
I used some spray adhesive to stick them all together & then hand-sewed a button to the center. I paper pieced a stem & some leaves using some green cardstock from PTI. The background was stamped using a yummy Hero Arts wood-mounted background stamp. The sentiment is also from Hero Arts.
Those leaves & stems were looking bare to me, so I used a colored pencil to shade them & give dimension.
I really love the look of these & think they would be great on cards or anything really - I am hoping to make some more soon. I think if I were to make them on a scrapbook page I could get away with making them bigger (and thus, easier to sew the edges!)

So cute!!!
Oh, looks like I have to go get some felt. These are precious. It would be fun in different shapes too.

I love the look of these flowers. I don’t have a sewing machine but I want one more and more for scrapping and crafting. lol. Then I can always learn to sew too, right?
Love your blog and all you do. Keep it up and have an amazing day!

they look awesome!
You’ve really got the sewing bug now, Kerry. Love these felt flowers. So bright and add so much to the card. It is very hard to sew small circles, you did a good job for the first time. Keep it up you’re on a roll here.
