Video Tutorial: Skinny Notepads
OK as promised, here is a video tutorial on making these skinny notepad holders. One thing to note: I bought my notepads at Walmart & had them cut at Staples. These are not the pads I bought, but they are something similar. I had the people at Staples cut the lines off the side, and then cut the pad in half for me. It gave me these skinny pads to use:
In the video, I show you how to cover the top of those pads to hide the label. The paper that I use to cover these measures 8.5″ x 5″. I scored at 2 3/8″ and 2 5/8″. Depending upon the size of the notepads you use, these measurements could vary.
EDIT: In the video I show how I add the paper to the pens to make them match. However, my SU Demo has a much better video that fully demonstrates this HERE. So check it out!!
Here’s a photo of the notepads I made in this video - if you want to see the original blog posting, it’s HERE.
Anyway, onto the video. Here it is - thanks for watching & let me know if you have any more questions!

Great video, thank you & I just love that your cat hangs out w/ you while you craft… My cat used to do that until we got our dog, he now runs the house, and the cat stays as high up on furniture as possible
Take care,
Jaime
Thank you so much you made this looks so easy !! I just LOVE all your work !!
Thank you ~ LOVE it!
These are adorable and what great gifts they make. I have this stamp set and I also bought the notepads from PTI. I had a hard time making my cover look professional, I was just winging it, so I am really grateful for this video.
Thanks,
Susan
Love the video. I have the Polka Dot II stamp set and had trouble with it lining up but I like the way you are doing it..I’ll have to try this!!
Hi Kerry, thanks so very much for this one - very helpful. I love Max! Your fan from North Carolina, Dana
Thanks! Great video. I think I will make some for a scrapbook weekend coming up as a little gift for everyone!
These are great! I think I will make them for the teachers I work with for Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Last year I made your post-it note holders & everyone loved them. Thanks for the video!
Question….I hope I am not being too bold in asking this; how much did Staples charge you to cut the pads?
TIA
hi Beth - no worries! It’s $2 per cut. So they stack as many as they can together & that counts as one cut. It’s not too bad - but you have to be pretty specific with them & tell them how you would like it done…!
Great job as usual, you inspire me!
what a great tut. you put together!! these are awesome little gifts.
May i ask what size tablets did you start with?..as you said they cut the line off first..i assume then youe then had them cut the balance in1/2..sorry i have too many senior momements lately..lol..tfs..loves ya
A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! thanks so much for sharing.
@Kerry
Thank you for answering my question so quickly.
love your tutorial
These are so adorable. I am going to make up a bunch for sure. Thanks very much.
Thanks for the great tutorial! I think the best part of the video, by far, was seeing that little paw come in a play with the pens! Max is a total cutie and reminds me a lot of my Attila in terms of color and markings. Gotta love the kitties, right?!
These are beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial!
Wow, I love these. I can’t wait to make some up for friends. Thank you for the tutorial!!
Great tutorial! I think I may make some with matching magnets or pushpins!
