Video Tutorial: DIY Rainbow Streamers

Our little one turned 2 last month and we had her party just a few weeks ago. It was a great time with LOTS & LOTS of toddlers, ha! ;)

I chose to do a rainbow party theme this year, full of fun bright colors. Truth be told, I was a bit stumped on what to make for party favors. Since we were having Brooke’s music teacher come and play music for the kids, I figured it would be perfect to make streamers they could use during the music portion, and then have them to take home. It worked out perfectly!

These are simply long pieces of gorgeous satin ribbon (thank you, Papermart!) tied onto plastic shower curtains rings (IKEA). The rings are the perfect size for toddler fingers to slip their hands through. All you have to do is tie the ribbon, finish off the ends & you’re ready to go!

Here are the streamers hanging up outside before the party started. It was a gorgeous day so the party was mostly outside. These double as decorations, too. Double score!!

I even filmed a video showing you how to make these gorgeous rainbow streamers. Thanks to the awesome folks over at Papermart for offering me this amazing ribbon at a great price! The quality of this ribbon was incredible – and really made all the difference in how these turned out. They were a huge hit – all the kids loved having one to take home with them!

The exact ribbon I used from Papermart was 1-1/2″ X 50 yards of the Double Face Satin Ribbon. I ordered one roll of each of the following colors:

Red
Tangerine
Daffodil
Emerald
Royal
Purple

disclaimer: I contacted Papermart regarding their selection of ribbon. I was offered a discount in exchange for a writeup/review of their product. All views expressed are my own – I truly only review products on my blog that I actually USE and ENJOY! :)

a little bubbly…

Hi everyone, I have another Whimsie Doodle share with you today. A few posts ago, I showed you how to download and print Whimsie Doodle files. I like to do this and then color my images – but sometimes I like to color the images in *before* I print them. I will color them in using the paint bucket tool in Photoshop, and then I will print the image…already colored!

It makes things super easy to mass produce – here is a screenshot of me using the paint bucket tool to fill in my image:

I decided to create some handmade wine bottle gift tags with some fun Spring colors to give away to some friends in a few weeks. I used the Bubble Shelf stamp for this. Super cute and I love the sentiment, it’s perfect for a wine bottle gift tag!

Valentine’s Day Lip Gloss Holders

Today I’m sharing these fun little lip gloss holders using Whimsie Doodle digital stamps, and the Top Note die from Stampin Up. These work up REALLY fast and make a great little treat to give out for Valentine’s Day (perfect for teachers!). If you don’t own the Stampin Up Top Note die, there are a bunch of digital cut files for your Cricut or Silhouette that are very similar –  there’s so many variations you could do!

Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post, as I have a video tutorial on how to make these…plus I’ve included a bit of instruction on using Whimsie Doodle stamps, too!

I printed these Valentine Messages stamps on various colors of cardstock and then punched them out with a 2″ circle punch. I only added a small amount of color here & there with my Copic markers…but not much! Really quick and easy to do.

here’s a look at what’s inside…a single stick of (holiday themed, LOL) lip gloss. It was all I had on hand…but hey, it’s February and there’s still plenty of snowman hanging around during February…right?! ;)

If you’d like to see how I made these, you can watch my video below, or directly over on YouTube

I’ve also had many MANY inquiries on how Whimsie Doodles stamps work, what they are, how I download & print them, etc. – I put together the first part of this video to help some of you out. If I can, I may try and do another video to show more options for using these digital stamps. Let me know what you think and if you find this video helpful – or if you have any questions! I can try and address them in a future blog post or video for you. Thanks!!

Whimsie Doodles Valentine

Hi everyone! I’m sharing some NEW Valentine’s Digis from Whimsie Doodles today. These can either be small Valentine’s, or toppers for treat bags. Super easy and cute!

I used Photoshop on my computer to color these images in, and then I printed them out and mounted them on some cardstock for a bag topper.

You could fill these bag with most anything, not just candy.

These new releases will be available for purchase & download in just a few short days. Be sure to check out the Whimsie Doodle blog for more information on new releases and challenges, too!

Gift Idea: Tile Photo Coasters

I’m sharing yet another DIY Christmas present…some handmade photo coasters…courtesy of Pinterest, of course!

I followed this pinned tutorial and put a few sets of these together for loved ones. They were SO super easy to make (I know I always say that, but I really mean it this time!) I simply made prints from my local CVS (glossy or matte finish, doesn’t matter) and cut them down to fit my tiles. I found my tiles at Lowes – they cost 34 cents a piece. You can’t beat that! I used Modge Podge to adhere down, coated the top a few times with Modge Podge, and finished them off with several coats of the Modge Podge Matte finish sealer. My only advice is to use that stuff in a well ventilated space. It’s messy…and stinky…!

Here’s the final result. Brooke’s Auntie just loved getting these personalized coasters. I figure that as the years go on I can update her collection with more recent photos. Fun!

Last minute stocking stuffer…literally!

for those of you looking for those last minute items to fill up the stockings, I have the perfect solution for you:

stockings :)

I used the “cozy toes” digital stamp from Whimsie Doodles to create a tag to wrap around a new pair of socks. This is a great way to wrap up something boring but make it cute & festive! (just simple coloring with Copics, no shading blending – quick & easy)

You can check out more new releases and samples of Whimsie Doodle stamps on the blog. Also, I’ve had a few questions on how to print & use these stamps. I am working on putting together a tutorial for that soon. So stay tuned! :)
